One of my recent custom requests was for a Moleskine notebook with a girl’s name painted on it in a rainbow spectrum style. I had never tried blending inks before, but it was really fun to play around with and I love how the journal turned out. So I decided to make a few pieces for my shop using the same technique.

Here’s the first one, a 5 x 7” piece to frame. It would make a great gift to celebrate a wedding, anniversary, civil union, etc. Available in the shop here.

Thanks to everyone who entered my Etsyversary giveaway! Watch to see who won!

Friends, good news — today is my Etsyversary! It’s so hard to believe that a whole year has passed since Sparrow Nest Script was born. What a ride it has been so far. I plan to compile some stats about my first year soon (all the states and countries I’ve sold to, my best-sellers, etc), but for now…

ANNOUNCING: A CELEBRATORY GIVEAWAY!

Without even looking at any records or numbers, I know for a fact that my “amazing ideas that will change the world” notebook was by far one of the most popular items in the Sparrow Nest Script shop this year. My original plan was to give away one of these to celebrate my Etsyversary. But I wanted to make it extra special, so I decided to come up with a whole new design based on the “amazing ideas” one.

Thus, I present to you the prize that the giveaway winner will receive: this custom, one-of-a-kind large kraft Moleskine (ruled) notebook. It features a hand-drawn banner motif with the phrase “amazing, world-changing ideas,” then “from the incredible mind of” below. From whose incredible mind? you’re probably wondering. Well, obviously, YOURS! Once the winner has been chosen, I will customize the notebook with his or her name in beautiful gold metallic ink.

HERE’S HOW TO ENTER:

Leave a comment on this post letting me know what kind of amazing ideas you would fill the notebook with. Use your imagination! And make sure to include your name and email address so I can contact you if you win. (Please use the Disqus comments below, NOT the Tumblr dashboard comments. I’ve been in love with Society 6 for a long time. A lot of my favorite photographers, illustrators, and other artists sell their work there.
Well, now I do too! I only have a few pieces up so far, including this one, but I’m so excited about this and can’t wait to add more.

I’ve just listed several new sets of stickers in my shop, including both rectangular name tags like these and smaller (1.5”) round stickers that say hi. This is my first time designing something with my new Wacom tablet and having it printed elsewhere, and I’m very happy with how these turned out.
Extra nerdy note: several of the sets are created using Pantone’s fall and spring 2012 fashion color forecasts for men and women. I ♥ Pantone, unnnff.

NEWS!

I’m working on a real, honest-to-goodness website, everyone. It’ll have an “About” page and a blog and information about custom order pricing. Updates to come.

Saw this lovely photo (and many others) a few days ago when a bride I did some signage for a while back contacted me to tell me her wedding was featured on Ruffled Blog. She pulled together TONS of crafty and vintage details to make her wedding day amazing (see the blog post)—I’m a little jealous, to be honest! Oh, and how cute are she and her husband? I’m so honored that my work was part of what looks to have been such an incredible event.
